29 Estate · 2005 · Sauvignon Blanc
Like its predecessor, the 2005 Vineyard 29 Blanc allows us to redefine domestic Sauvignon Blanc. Made in the style of a white Graves with fruit from our small, hillside sauvignon blanc vineyard, the Blanc undergoes no malolactic fermentation and spends 18 months in new French Oak “immersion” barrels (water bent and wet toasted). These immersion barrels allow subtle nuances of oak to develop that integrate seamlessly into the wine.
Luscious aromas of ripe melon and pineapple are followed with subtle oak and sweet spices. The wine is full and soft across the palate showing nice minerality, balanced weight and tremendous structure with a lovely acid back bone, and serious viscosity. Our 2005 Blanc is a perfect embodiment of our sauvignon blanc goal: an exotic nose, very focused and pure fruit and a complex and enticing mouth feel. Very easy to enjoy now and will continue to develop for 7-8 years.
