Aida Estate · 2010 · Cabernet Sauvignon
We have been fueled by our belief that Aida would be an ideal site for growing Bordeaux varietals since our acquisition of this wonderful vineyard in 2000. Each harvest has affirmed our initial belief and makes us eagerly anticipate the next vintage.
Following three dry winters, rain returned to Napa in 2010 pushing bud break, flowering, fruit-set and veriason back by about two weeks. A relatively cool growing season held on through early September, but gave way to a delightful Indian summer in October leading to a later and compact harvest. The extra hang time this year help our wines to exhibit wonderfully developed flavor and color supported by very well balanced alcohol and acidity.
The inky violet hue of our 2010 Aida Estate Cabernet Sauvignon hints at its concentrated power while exuberant aromas of black currants, dried Bing cherries, scorched earth, and fresh tobacco leaf command your attention. The palate is layered with creamy milk chocolate, graphite and subtle hints of bergamot. Powerful and rich, yet vibrant and elegant, the finish of this palate-coating wine lasts and lasts. Our opulent and expressive 2010 Aida Estate Cabernet will benefit from decanting when young and can be enjoyed over the next 20+ years.
